Artist's Statement

"Nothing in the world is usual today it is the first morning" Izumi Shikibu

My imagination and inspiration is driven by the mysterious, sensuous, generative qualities
of the natural world. I contemplate the underlying connectedness of spirit and matter,
seeing the boundary between inside and outside dissolve.
The long, narrow panels act as windows to focus attention and anchor the flow of energy, allowing the eye to rest in the atmospheric colour.
The Suites further explore variations in texture, expressing what is evident as well as what is remembered or imagined.
Working up the acrylic media over a period of time, adding layers and colours promotes a conscious mindfulness, a meditative state which is translated to the surface.

This work celebrates natures' hopeful message of growth and beauty.
